This really is the easiest GUT FRIENDLY banana bread recipe. I promise you can mix everything in one bowl and *no baking skills are required*. And the secret to why it's gut friendly? It’s our do-everything, read-to-bake Original Sourdough Bread + Muffin Mix. The mix is naturally fermented with sourdough culture for gut health, made with ancient grains, organic ingredients, and subtly sweetened with coconut sugar (just 4g of sugar per serving!).

My obsession with this banana bread is that texture! Perfectly moist, fluffy, even a little caky, and golden brown on all side. Okay and yes - the flavor is unreal. Like buttery, banana-y, nutty goodness. What's great about this recipe too is that you can easily toss in a cup of chopped walnuts, dark chocolate chips, or pumpkin spice seasoning.

The banana bread is so simple to make! I like to bake up a fresh loaf on a Sunday morning, this way we have fresh bread throughout the week. Any leftovers can be sliced and kept in the fridge or freezer! When you want a thick slice for breakfast, snack, or when that banana bread cravings strikes - just pop a slice in the toaster or oven until warmed. My favorite way to enjoy this banana bread is either topped with nut butter (usually peanut butter) and some flaky sea salt.

What ingredients you need to make this sourdough banana bread:

  • Jesha's original sourdough bread + muffin mix – 4G of Coconut Sugar, ancient grains, vegan friendly, and gut friendly too (thanks to a natural fermentation with sourdough culture)!
  • Mashed bananas– The spottier and browner the bananas are the better (we want them a little extra sweet)!
  • Eggs– you can totally use flax eggs too.
  • Melted coconut oil– If you don’t have coconut oil on hand, you can use olive oil, avocado oil, or butter!
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Cinnamon
  • Walnuts– adds a little crunch and an amazing nutty flavor to every bite.
  • 8x4 Loaf Pan– I use this one. You can definitely use a 9x5 loaf pan but just keep in mind, the height of the loaf will not be as tall.

How to bake this easy, healthy sourdough banana bread:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and line or grease an 8x4 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mash bananas. Then mix in melted oil, eggs, vanilla extract and mix
  3. Add baking mix and cinnamon until fully combined
  4. Add you batter to the pan and sprinkle with walnuts
  5. Bake in oven for 40 minutes and enjoy!
